Teil 1.

This is my first post so it will be a rather long one. But I've got a lot to catch up on so here goes :)

I've been here for over a month now and an awful lost has happened. After a bit of a road trip with daddy Gregory I finally made it to Germany.
First impressions of the town were great! The quaint buildings, cobbled streets and surrounding mountains and vineyards seemed very appealing. The photo above was taken in the Haputmarkt in Porta Nigra ( the main shopping area) - very pretty and a great atmosphere! However, the coming three weeks were to be filled with tedious paperwork as well as an orientation course, all courtesy of the Uni of course.  I've settled into my accommodation pretty well - although it is somewhat depressing due to the severe lack of windows in the kitchen and bathroom :/ Despite this, my room is nice and cosy and i've become rather attached to my apartment, especially as Kleeburger Weg is only a five minute walk from campus (essential for my attendance of lectures - i'm not known for my punctuality in the morning!)

My travels have already begun; Bonn, Cochem, Saarbruecken and Luxembourg - not exactly far afield but it's a start! Bonn was a bit of a washout and we spent most of the afternoon in a Mexican restaurant. Cochem however was more suited to us Erasmus students. Essentially we spent the afternoon in a vineyard sampling wine in the sunshine - all thanks to the Uni! Something I have come to find is that wine is almost as essential as water here in Trier. Perfect! After a well needed shopping trip to Saarbruecken, we had All Saints Day (1st Nov) off so we headed over to Luxembourg. Not exactly what we were expecting, however it's one more place ticked off the list.

Aside from travelling, we have discovered the joys of Trier nightlife. Having made friends quite quickly, we've visited many bars and clubs in Trier, trying to avoid the Irish Pub which has become very repetitive. So far, New Mintons is a favourite of ours! There have been many good nights out so far, and some i would rather forget! (mainly the Erasmus parties on campus - it seems that cheap alcohol goes down a little to well!

So there you have it! A short overview of the goings on so far :) I'll try to update my blog as often as possible - Bis Spaeter!
