Teil 3.

So once again we set out on one of our little adventues around Rheinland-Pfalz and once again it was a dreary and somewhat unsuccessful day :( This time we headed out to Koblenz in search of something interesting....but as usual we ended up carrying out the obligitory tourist-like activities and then split.....very quickly!; we visited the Deutsche Eck (above) - a pretty spectacular monument in the flesh!
A highlight of the day was a trip in the cable car across to the castle ( well at least i think it was a castle...or a fort...or something. you can tell that we were only interested in the cable car trip :D). The castle/fort wasn't as impressive, as you can see from the lack of pictures.

However, the cable car was pretty nifty....8 euros well spent!

So, after a couple of hours of drizzly rain and being suspended over the Mosel/Rhein, we proceeded to do exactly what we do in every city we visit....found somewhere to eat and hide! We appear to have become experts at this. Bonn is a perfect example - it was raining like i never seen it rain before so rather than exploring such a historic city, we found the first mexican restaurant we could and ordered as much food as possible :) Well this wasn't as simple in Koblenz; having spent what felt like a lifetime searching for a Geldautomat we ended up in the shopping centre food court....not exactly a cosy little restaurant but we were in dire straits. But we were not prepared for what was to follow.... the worst Currywurst....ever!

It looked and tasted like dog food :/ not one of my finer choices! However we were mildly entertained by the German's take on my name in Starbucks......

So, our day out in Koblenz came to an end pretty quickly once the coffee ran out. We headed home to watch Skyfall. Which was surprisingly good in German...who would have thought it?! Oh and having enjoyed smurf ice cream over the past few months, i discovered the beauty of Smurf sweets!! - A very happy Pippa!

Other than our trip to Koblenz, the last few weeks have been somewhat uneventful. We lost Isabella for a weekend and then Josh for a week, so we were a man down when celebrating Jennifer's birthday :( but we have recently been reunited...order in the world has once more been restored! Unfortunately the reality of studying abroad has hit us this week. We have four exams in the next couple of weeks, as well as a presentation and a small essay.....no one told me there would be this much to do! (i say with much sarcasm!) if anyone ever tells you that a year abroad is difficult, they are correct in so much as it's all in another language (slight hinderence) but the amount of work you have to do is laughable, luckily for us! However, the Christmas markets are currently being set up in town....the christmas atmosphere is already here! They open next monday and we shoudl be heading off to Köln soon....the best markets in Germany. I guess I' better make some kind of an attempt at actual work.... Bis gleich!
